Busan's signature beach destination, a travel-driven area where sea views and the route between your hotel and the sights shape the dining choice.
In Haeundae, a sea view costs money. Restaurants and cafes along the beach road are priced with the view included, which is a fair trade for one memorable meal but drains a travel budget if you eat every meal there.
Walk two or three blocks inland to Haeundae Traditional Market and prices drop sharply. Milmyeon, dwaeji-gukbap, and raw fish are all noticeably cheaper inside the market, and the customers are mostly locals rather than visitors.
If you are in Busan, dwaeji-gukbap (pork rice soup) and milmyeon (cold wheat noodles) are both worth one meal each. The market and the streets around it have several long-running places for both.
For raw fish, head toward Mipo or Cheongsapo rather than the central beach strip — quieter, better priced, and in Cheongsapo's case genuinely worth the trip at sunset.
Haeundae sits on subway Line 2, and buses or taxis handle the run from the beach out to Dalmaji-gil and Cheongsapo. A taxi from the beach to Cheongsapo takes around ten minutes.
In peak summer, restaurants near the beach stay full all evening. Shifting your meal before 6pm or after 8pm makes a substantial difference; outside high season the pressure largely disappears.
